Rose House | Contemporary Home in Pymble

Located within a newly created battle-axe allotment in Pymble, this contemporary residence in Graham Avenue responds thoughtfully to the challenges of its sloping site and elevated neighbouring properties. The architectural design carefully balances openness and privacy, creating a calm and protected living environment despite the surrounding overlooking conditions.

The home follows the natural fall of the land, with clean white linear forms stepping through the site and contrasting against softer natural materials including stone and timber. This interplay of materiality creates a refined contemporary aesthetic that feels both elegant and grounded within its landscape setting.

At the heart of the design is a private internal courtyard featuring a water feature and lap pool, establishing a central outdoor space that brings natural light, outlook and tranquillity deep into the home. The resulting five-bedroom residence with multiple living areas is organised around this protected core, enhancing both functionality and connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

This project demonstrates how considered architectural design can transform a constrained infill site into a sophisticated and highly liveable family home. For homeowners in Pymble and Sydney’s North Shore, it highlights the value of engaging an architect to create bespoke solutions that respond directly to site, privacy and lifestyle requirements.
