Roberts House | Classical Luxury Home in Roseville
Roberts House in Roseville is a substantial contemporary residence inspired by the timeless elegance of classical French architecture. Constructed by Felton Homes, the project combines grand proportions, refined detailing and modern family functionality, creating a luxury family estate that balances classical elegance with contemporary luxury.
Constraints & Opportunities
The site is located within a Heritage Conservation Area in Roseville, requiring the new dwelling to respond sensitively to the established character of the streetscape. While the relatively level site, absence of significant trees and desirable north-east rear aspect provided considerable design flexibility, the opportunity lay in creating a substantial family residence that combined classical architectural principles with contemporary living while remaining respectful of its heritage context.
Brief & Design Strategy
The client’s brief was to create a substantial luxury family home that reflected the timeless character of classical French architecture while accommodating the needs of contemporary family life. The design was to include seven bedrooms, generous entertaining spaces, a basement garage, swimming pool and cabana, all arranged to maximise the site’s desirable north-east aspect.
The architectural design is carefully composed with a symmetrical street presence, establishing a sense of balance, formality and permanence within the streetscape. A sophisticated material palette featuring limestone and natural slate softens the scale of the home, with the textured masonry base and slate roof contributing to its enduring character and architectural refinement.
Internally, the seven-bedroom residence is designed to support luxurious contemporary living, incorporating triple living areas, basement garage, an internal lift, mudroom and gallery spaces. The home is organised to maximise connection to the sunny rear garden, where expansive living areas open seamlessly to covered loggias, outdoor entertaining terraces, a swimming pool and cabana.
Natural light, generous proportions and carefully considered spatial planning create a home that feels both grand and highly liveable. Roberts House demonstrates how thoughtful architectural design can successfully merge classical inspiration with contemporary lifestyle expectations, resulting in a bespoke family estate that is elegant, functional and designed to endure for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should I consider when designing a luxury family home in Roseville?
A successful luxury home is defined by more than its size or appearance. Careful planning of living spaces, circulation, storage, natural light and connections to outdoor areas is essential to create a home that is both elegant and highly functional for everyday family life.
2. Why choose natural stone and slate for a new home in Ku-ring-gai?
Natural materials such as limestone and slate provide durability, timeless character and architectural depth that improve with age. They contribute to a refined appearance, require relatively little maintenance and help create a home with enduring value rather than one influenced by short-term design trends.
3. Can a large new Roseville home still respond sensitively to a Heritage Conservation Area?
Yes. New homes within a Heritage Conservation Area do not need to replicate historic architecture, but they should respond appropriately to the established streetscape, scale, materials and character of the surrounding neighbourhood. Careful architectural design can balance contemporary family living with the heritage objectives of the locality.
4. Why include a pool and cabana in a luxury Ku-ring-gai family home?
A well-designed pool and cabana extend the home’s living and entertaining spaces beyond the interior, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor areas. When planned as part of the overall architectural design, they become a natural extension of the home, providing spaces for relaxation, family gatherings and year-round entertaining while enhancing both lifestyle and property value.
